Mad Boss
‘Is your Boss Mad? The book’

Unfortunately bosses don’t come with a user manual. Does he have a sense of humour? Why does he make such strange requests? How come I can’t tell what mood he will be in today? Why does he think I will perform under this amount of pressure? Why doesn’t he understand me?

My book seeks to examine the behaviour of eight different bosses and by doing so create profiles. Some of these profiles, outlining these different types of boss, may be familiar to you; all are types that cause misery in the work place. They are based on true stories recounted by friends and colleagues.  I have deliberately not enhanced the details of the companies or organisations involved, I don’t want to divert your attention from the boss profiles, which is what we are really interested in.
Your particular boss may be a combination of profiles, the book works through their behaviours trying to find out what is causing the particular behaviours they are exhibiting then goes on to suggest strategies for coping with each. These strategies aim to help you manage your work place environment to your advantage and generally improve how you deal with your working life.

I hope that my book will help you to start to resolve your work issues and help you to a happier work life. I would like  you to remember that you are not alone. If you can start to understand why your workplace is a difficult, stressful or unhappy work situation, you will start to cope with it so much better. With my help you may even be able to evolve a strategy to cope with  or even improve the situation. I want to help you to enjoy your job, be free of tension and enjoy your day to day work life.
It is possible to have harmony in your workplace and here you may find a way to bring the change, or at least start the process towards it. Both will bring an immediate level of relief. By sharing in the experiences of the people mentioned in this book you will realise the world is full of mad bosses and that it is possible to work for one and still have a life.
Here is the first profile examined in the book. It’s the ‘Friend Then Foe Then Friend Again’ boss. Do you have a boss like this? One moment they seem so friendly and helpful but then inexplicably, in only a short space of time, they turn into an aggressive bully.
